Micropore Extendair Cartridges - case of 4

Product Description
ExtendAir cartridge technology brings a dramatically new capability to the world of CO2 adsorption. SCUBA is the rebreather application where ExtendAir technology has the greatest increase in performance when compared with granular adsorbents. The harder you breathe or the colder the water, the better ExtendAir cartridges perform. Combined with the ease of use of a pre-packaged cartridge, ExtendAir cartridge technology is the choice for CO2 scrubbing in a SCUBA rebreather.
Rebreather manufacturers have worked with granular adsorbents for years and know the strengths and weaknesses of that technology. Some of the limitations of granules are:
Channeling of gases through the adsorbent bed
Duration variability due to individual differences in canister filling technique
Dusting from routine handling
Settling in storage and shipping
Granular canisters are often oversized to account for the variability in performance. With the ExtendAir technology, performance variation falls within a very tight range, typically (+/- 5%) no matter who loads the canister. Because of this, canisters can now be designed to result in smaller, lighter, and easier to use rebreathers.
The key to the improved performance is control of the reaction in the canister via the ExtendAir cartridge's factory-molded channels, and management of the air flowing through the cartridge. For this reason, canisters must be engineered to operate efficiently and therefore optimize the system duration.
